FINN VS SANTANA - FAIR?
Oh, lord. Okay.
a.) I hate Finn vs. Santana things because a lot of people end up ignoring the wrongs of the other “side,” but as a Finn stan, this breaks my heart into a million pieces.
b.) I’m seeing a lot of people lacking any compassion whatsoever for Santana, and I just don’t think that’s fair. Not even the worst people deserve that. I don’t at all feel bad about Finn calling her out, I feel bad that people overheard. She deserved his words, but she didn’t deserve the commercial and the aftermath. Pulling her into a classroom and telling her, away from others, would’ve gotten Finn an A+ for the episode, in my book, because she still needed to hear it and I’m glad someone finally just said it. People aren’t going to put up with her crap for much longer, and (although it doesn’t make his actions right,) if Finn hadn’t done this, someone else would’ve lashed out at her in a much worse, more purposeful way.
c.) The Finn hate in this fandom is so silly. If Mike Chang had said something to Tina at her locker about Santana’s sexuality and someone overheard, there is no way you guys would be reacting this way. It would be all “Oh, Mike, why’d you have to do that? Ugh. But accidents happen, you didn’t mean it..” but because it’s Finn, he didn’t even have a chance from the time he opened his mouth. He was angry and was speaking on emotion, he didn’t purposely find some megaphone and scream it down the hallway. The way his voice softens at the end, too, shows that he doesn’t mean to hurt her, he cares about her and just wants her to either drop the stupid charade that’s making her act this way, or at least come to terms with it herself so she’s not such a bitch all the time.
d.) It’s funny to me how you all think Finn’s the devil, yet if you were put in his situation, I can bet that 90% of you would’ve snapped way earlier and, if you knew why your bully was such a bitch, you, too, would tell her that she can either come out or just suck it up but she needs to stop bullying people who’ve done nothing to her. What Finn did was wrong, and, intentional or not, it caused Santana pain, but you know what the moral of this story is, that so many people are so conveniently ignoring? It’s not Team Santana or Team Finn, it’s that being a bitch all the damn time gets you nowhere and, at one magnitude or another, will eventually bite you in the ass, because even the sweetest and most patient people have breaking points, and they will eventually sink to your level and, in the heat of the moment, will say things that you may find you’re not too fond of others knowing. Negativity only breeds more negativity. Again, I won’t say she deserved this, but if she didn’t think there were going to be any negative consequences for her behavior, she had another thing coming. Both were wrong, and we all have our opinions on who was more wrong based on whatever our own biases are, but the point here is that there is no winner. No one wins when everyone’s hurt. So don’t be a bitch, and don’t converse in hallways around sleazeball politicians’ nieces. The end.
